Rochester International Film Festival has announced festival lineup for the 64th edition of the festival, which takes place from May 5-7 in Rochester, NY, United States.

Rochester International Film Festival is one of the longest running short film festivals in the world. The festival is produced and presented by Movies On A Shoestring, offering (4) distinct screenings each Spring at George Eastman Museum’s famed Dryden Theatre in Upstate NY.

The Rochester International Film Festival screens short films from around the world which are rich in artistic expression.

A lineup of 33 short films have been selected to go on screen at the 64th edition of the Rochester International Film Festival.

“Lorenza’s Bike” by Patricio Mosse from Argentina, “Ma’s House” by Jeremy Dennis from USA, “Eureka” by Miida Chu from USA, “The Malfunction” by Tom Festo, “Myrtle” by Patricia McCormack from UK, “RAW” by Drake Shannon from USA, “Suite” by Fabio Thieme from Germany, “Pay Phone” by Yurugu Matsumoto from Japan, “Nounours” by Lou Rigoudy from Canada.

“Lorenza’s Bike”

Directed by Patricio Mosse, “Lorenza’s Bike” tells the story of Lorenza trying to understand if her father, who died in an aviation tragedy, will ever come back to be with her mother again.

“Ma’s House”

Directed by Jeremy Dennis, the short documentary is about Ma’s House which was once the heart of the community. Ma’s grandson, who is on a quest to restore the family home, reveals generations of history through personal momentos and intimate narratives.

“Eureka”

Directed by Miida Chu, “Eureka” tells the story of a young Chinese prostitute, who must overcome her toxic dependency on her brothel madam on the eve of the 1885 anti-Chinese riots in Eureka, Oregon.

“The Malfunction”

Directed by Tom Festo, “The Malfunction” tells the story of a successful businessman in the future, who discovers that the primary mode of travel is not what it seems.

“Myrtle”

Directed by Patricia McCormack, the short drama centers on Myrtle, a trailer park Mom from Indiana, who cooks dinner for her son. But something is not quite right.

“RAW”

In “RAW”, directed by by Drake Shannon, past and present are blurred by a horrifying transgression as a female soldier faces the aftermath of a military patrol in the Middle East.

“Suite”

Directed by Fabio Thieme, “Suite” tells the story of an employee who is paid to fake the lives of his clients in a flat. What makes a life and can you create it by imitation?

“Pay Phone”

Directed by Yurugu Matsumoto, “Pay Phone” tells the story of Saki who unexpectedly gets an incoming call from a pay phone. The caller is her father who lives apart from her. They decide to meet together.

“Nounours”

Directed by Lou Rigoudy, “Nounours” is about a baby girl who stumbles across a box and finds a new friend, a teddy bear, with whom she begins to learn about the world.

“Kairos, Qualitative Time”

In “Kairos, Qualitative Time”, directed by Carlos Scasso, to curtail the spread of revolts against the System, the “Kairos Programme” has been activated. Isacaar will find himself faced with the chance of preserving something more important than his ideals.

“Plea Bargain”

In “Plea Bargain”, directed by Mitch Greenberg, an unstable delinquent charged with robbery attempts to garner the help of a reluctant, surly criminal defense lawyer.

“My Darling Amelia”

Directed by Talor John Marshall, “My Darling Amelia” tells the story of a young single father, who retreats to his sister’s house after selling his fishing boat in an attempt to escape the trauma of his past.

“Out of Season”

Directed by Darren Latanick, “Out of Season” tells the story of Keith, who is forced to change his routine after a family member unexpectedly lands in his life.

“Unforgotten”

Directed by Sujin Kim, “Unforgotten” follows four South Korean women, who give testimony of their forced sexual slavery by the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II.

“The Call of Water”

Directed by Kanya Tone, “The Call of Water” tells the story of Nadia who, flung into the astral plane, must face ancient forces in order to realize her responsibility to her homeland.

“Pilè”

Directed by by Tony Radevski, “Pilè” is about a moment in a boy’s life when his masculinity and morality are in opposition. A lizard’s life or death is in his hands.

Directed by Jamie Spaulding, “Highwaymen” tells the story of two brothers, who are driven apart by their own nature and pitted against each other by circumstance.

“The Bag”

Directed by Sam Azghandi, “The Bag” tells the story of Muhammed, a male to female transgender person from Iran, struggling to come out to family and society.

“They remained silent”

Directed by Albert Folk, “They remained silent” tells the story of a lawyer with a high sense of responsibility, who is appointed to defend one of three young men accused of burning a homeless woman.

“Downfall”

In “Downfall”, directed by Rona Fayad, Enya’s journey trying to make it as a dancer is hindered as her behavior drags her downhill.

“Between Two Worlds”

Directed by Jax Weiner, “Between Two Worlds” tells the story of Amateur dancers from NYC South diaspora, who form Junoon Performing Arts. Their mission is to celebrate their heritage and address social issues.

“The Immortality of Words”

Directed by Nei Loya, “The Immortality of Words” tells the story of Alfonso, a young literature professor, who teaches at the university. His obsession with finding the remains of Federico Garcia Lorca will lead him to an unexpected event.
