Industry Innovation Forum in Tallinn highlights trendsetters in Film Financing, Virtual Production, XR, and Metaverse from Europe to Ukraine

Today on 22 November, Industry Tallinn & Baltic Event kicks off the Industry Innovation Forum Tallinn with a focus on the near future obstacles and opportunities of European independent film financing, the needs of the rapidly growing Virtual Production sector and challenges towards building industry capacity for European VR/XR and Metaverse offerings.

The event also focuses on building trusted connectivity and support networks for the Ukrainian audiovisual and innovation sector, as well as building resilience and evolvability capacity for the industry in the backdrop of shifting consumer behaviour, fragmenting value chains, and the energy crisis.

The highlight speakers of the inaugural edition include Estonia’s Minister of Culture, Piret Hartma , Deputy Director and Head of Unit Audiovisual Industry and media support programmes DG Connect Lucia Recalde, long-term film investment and corporate finance executive Elisa Alvares, with experience in managing deals over €800 million (IPR.VC), virtual production supervisor Louisa Bremner from Lux Machina Consulting with a track record of some of the most significant Europe shot productions such as “House of the Dragon” and “Matrix 4”, Marko Martiskainen from Europe’s Metaverse pioneer Zoan, and Anna Bulakh from Emmy, winning Ukraine based synthetic voice innovator Respeecher with credits from European documentaries to the recent Obi-Wan Kenobi series. A special fireside chat on industry resilience will feature globally acclaimed innovation scientist and advisor Robert Wolcott of Twin-World Innovation Network amongst the 12 forum onsite and hybrid speakers.

According to the curator and moderator of Industry Innovation Forum Sten Saluveer, “The continuous cooling of the economic environment, the energy crisis, the Ukraine war as well as the ripple effect of the COVID pandemic has set European AV sector face to face with a challenging year ahead. How we can jointly build and execute our resilience and future growth-focused initiatives across the industry will be thus at the heart of our inaugural Industry Innovation Forum. We are excited to partner again with the European Commission to highlight the pressing topics for our business, but also explore ways to enhance our solidarity and support towards Ukraine”, he adds.

“The European audiovisual ecosystem is constantly evolving and innovating, even through the pandemic and what is now a challenging economic environment. With Europe in Focus: Industry Innovation Forum Tallinn 2022: Sustaining Resilience and Foresight for Europe the Commission is bringing together key voices from the industry to discuss how the European industry can leverage new technologies to continue to create high-quality content,” says Lucia Recalde, Head of Unit Audiovisual Support Programs.

The forum, which takes place in Nordic Hotel Forum from 3 PM to 6.30 PM (EET) in Tallinn and is streamed online, is supported by the European Commission’s Creative Europe MEDIA program and is organized in partnership with the Black Nights Film Festival.
