EURIMAGES CO-PRODUCTION AWARD for Ukrainian producers

BERLIN (November 22, 2022) – Exceptionally, this year’s EURIMAGES CO-PRODUCTION AWARD is given to not one, but all producers of Ukraine, as an expression of strong appreciation for the growing quality of Ukrainian production in the past years, and as a sign of ongoing support now that the infrastructure for production support within Ukraine has collapsed. In 2022, Eurimages and the European Film Academy wish to express their full support to Ukrainian film producers and for efforts to give continuity to the film industry in these difficult times. The Award will be accepted by a delegation of Ukrainian producers who are Academy members at the ceremony of the 35th European Film Awards on 10 December in Reykjavík.

The EURIMAGES CO-PRODUCTION AWARD is presented by the European Film Academy in co-operation with Eurimages, the cultural support fund of the Council of Europe. It acknowledges the decisive role of co-productions in fostering international exchange.

The quality of Ukrainian productions is reflected in the Ukrainian films shortlisted for the European Film Awards earlier this year, such as REFLECTION directed by Valentyn Vasyanovych for the Feature Film Selection, while PAMFIR directed by Dmytro Sukholytkyy-Sobchuk has been nominated for European Discovery – Prix FIPRESCI. In addition, there are two co-productions with Ukraine running for the European Film Awards: A HOUSE MADE OF SPLINTERS (Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Ukraine) directed by Simon Lereng Wilmont for European Documentary and 107 MOTHERS (Slovakia, Czech Republic, Ukraine), film supported by Eurimages and directed by Peter Kerekes, also for European Discovery – Prix FIPRESCI.

The ceremony of the European Film Awards – the most renowned and prestigious award for European film – is presented by the European Film Academy and European Film Academy Productions.
