Guadalajara International Film Festival 2022 award winners

Guadalajara International Film Festival, or FICG, the most important cinematographic event in Latin America, has announced the complete list of award winners for 2022 festival.

The Guadalajara International Film Festival (Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara), also known as FICG, is a week-long film festival held annually in the Mexican city of Guadalajara since 1986.

The Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) is the most important cinematographic event in Latin America. The quality and relevance of the film program; the celebrities and renowned filmmakers that stop-by; the professionals that pin-down projects; along with the public enjoying a myriad of cultural, educational and entertainment activities; have positioned the Festival as the a premier event for Ibero-American cinema.

The Icon Award of the 37th Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) went to “Los Tigres del Norte: Historias que Contar” by Carlos Perez Osorio.

The Jorge Cámara Award, Hollywood Foreign Press Association Award, was presented to “Utama” by Alejandro Loayza Grisi from Bolivia, Uruguay, France.

The jury of FEISAL (American Federation of Image and Sound Schools) honored “Mamá” (“Mom”) by Xun Sero from Mexico with an Special Mention.

The FESISAL Award of the 2022 Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) went to “La Espera” by Ingrid Valencic & María Celeste Contratti from Argentina.

The FIPRESCI Award went to “Coraje” (“Courage”) by Rubén Rojo Aura from Mexico, Spain.

“Escocia No Es Un Banco” by Carlos Matsuo & Cristian Franco from Mexico won the Made in Jalisco Award of the 37th FICG.

The Maguey Award for Best Performance was presented to the ensemble cast of “Beautiful Beings” by Guðmundur Arnar Guðmundsson from Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, Czech Republic.

“Camila Saldrá Esta Noche” (“Camila Comes Out Tonight”) by Inés María Barrionuevo from Argentina won the Jury Maguey Award.

The Maguey Award for Best Movie went to “Mi Vacío y yo” (“My Emptiness and I”) by Adrián Silvestre from Spain.

The Rigo Mora jury awarded two honorable mentions to the short film “Zoon” by Jonatan Schwenk from Germany and the feature movie “My Love Affair With Marriage” by Signe Baumane from Latvia, United States, Luxemburg.

The Rigo Mora International Award was presented to “Ice Merchants” (“Ice Merchants”) by Joâo Gonzalez from Portugal, France, United Kingdom.

The Best International Animated Feature Film award of the festival went to “Nayola” by José Miguel Ribeiro from Portugal, Belgium, France, Netherlands.

The jury awarded an Honorable Mention to the feature movie “La playa de los enchaquirados” (“The Beach of Enchaquirados”) by Iván Mora Manzano from Ecuador in the Ibero-American Documentary Feature Film competition section of the festival.

The Best Ibero-American Documentary Feature Film award of the 2022 FICG went to “Alis” by Clare Weiskopf & Nicolás Van Hemelryck from Colombia, Romania, Chile.

“Canto Cósmico. Niño de Elche” (“Cosmic Chant. Niño de Elche”) by Marc Sempere-Moya & Leire Apellaniz López from Spain won the Best Director award in the Documentary Feature Film competition section of the festival.

The Best Cinematography award in the Documentary Feature Film competition section of the festival went to Víctor Mares for “Para Su Tranquilidad Haga Su Propio Museo” (“For Your Peace of Mind, Make Your Own Museum”) from Panama.

The Best Cinematography award in the Ibero-American Fiction Feature Film competition section of the festival went to Iván Gierasinchuk & Sergio Amstrong for “Carajita” from Dominican Republic & Argentina.

The award for Best Actress in an Ibero-American Fiction Feature Film went to Magnolia Núñez for “Carajita” from Dominican Republic & Argentina.

The award for Best Actor in an Ibero-American Fiction Feature Film went to Nahuel Pérez Biscayart for “One Year, One Night” from Spain, France.

Written and directed by Alejandro Loayza Grisi, “Utama” won the Best Screenplay award in the Ibero-American Fiction Feature Film competition section of the 2022 Guadalajara International Film Festival.

The Best Director award in the Ibero-American Fiction Feature Film competition section of the 2022 Guadalajara International Film Festival went to Silvina Schnicer & Ulises Porras for “Carajita” from Dominican Republic & Argentina.

The award for the Best First Ibero-American Fiction Feature Film went to “Utama” by Alejandro Loayza Grisi from Bolivia, Uruguay, France.

The Best Ibero-American Fiction Film award was presented to “Carajita” by Silvina Schnicer & Ulises Porras from Dominican Republic & Argentina.

The Young Mezcal Jury Award for Best Film went to “El Reino de Dios” (“The Realm of God”) by Claudia Sainte-Luce from México.

The Mezcal Award for Best Cinematography in a Mexican Feature Film went to Carlos Correa for “El reino de dios” (“The Realm of God”) from Mexico.

The Mezcal Award for Best Actor in a Mexican Feature Film went to Diego Armando Lara Lagunas for “El reino de dios” (“The Realm of God”) from Mexico.

The Mezcal Award for Best Actress in a Mexican Feature Film went to Marta Aura for “Coraje” (“Courage”) from Mexico & Spain.

“Goya” by Pablo Orta from México grabbed the Audience Award for Best Mexican Documentary or Film of the 2022 Guadalajara International Film Festival.

Claudia Sainte-Luce, the director of “El reino de dios” (“The Realm of God”), won the Mezcal Award for Best Female Director.

The Mezcal Award for Best Mexican Film went to Claudia Sainte-Luce for “El reino de dios” (“The Realm of God”) from México.

“Adeus, Calon” by Joâo Borges from Brazil won the award for Best Ibero-American Short Film.

The Socio-Environmental Film Award was presented to the feature documentary “Holgut” by Liesbeth de Ceulaer from Belgium.
