Festival de Cine de l’Alfàs del Pi announces 2022 award winners

Festival de Cine de l’Alfàs del Pi has announced the complete list of award winners for 2022 festival, which took place in L’Alfàs del Pi (Alicante, Spain) from July 2-10.

Short Films Official Competition

The jury of in the Short Films Official competition section of the 34th Festival de Cine de l’Alfàs del Pi, consisting of Cecilia Gessa, Cristina Delgado, Cristina Gallego, Chechu León and Nuria Cidoncha, under the supervision of Jorge Orozco (member of the Organization), has agreed by majority to honor the following as award winners after watching 23 short film in the official competition section of the festival.

1st Prize

“A entrevista” directed by Fernando Tato and Susana Sampedro won the 1st Prize of the 2022 Festival de Cine de l’Alfàs del Pi.

Directed by Fernando Tato and Susana Sampedro, “A entrevista” tells the story of Sara, who goes to a job interview at the fashion magazine “Cosmo Magazine”. The interview proceeds normally but soon the atmosphere begins to get weird and creates a really violent situation. Sara will discover that she has a pending account with Laura, her interviewer.

2nd Prize

“Safe” directed by Josema Roig grabbed the 2nd Prize of the 34th Festival de Cine de l’Alfàs del Pi.

Directed by Josema Roig, in “Safe”, a family is confronted in the middle of the night with strange noises coming from outside.

3rd Prize

“On your behalf” directed by Ana García Rico was honored with the 3rd Prize of the Festival de Cine de l’Alfàs del Pi 2022.

Directed by Ana García Rico, in “On your behalf”, we all have hobbies that irritate us. They may seem like small things, but who among us has never muttered the phrase ‘I could kill them’? Ava goes one step further and puts these thoughts into action.

Best Actress

The Best Actress award of the 34th Festival de Cine de l’Alfàs del Pi went to Silvia Lorenzo and Martina Stetson for their portrayals of Sara and Laura in the short drama “A entrevista” directed by Fernando Tato and Susana Sampedro.

Best Actor

The Best Actor award of the 34th Festival de Cine de l’Alfàs del Pi went to Jose Manuel Montilla and Hugo Montilla for their portrayals of Santiago and Diego in the short drama “Intentando” directed by Juan Manuel Montilla.

Directed by Juan Manuel Montilla, in “Intentando”, Santiago is a father with cerebral palsy that makes it difficult for him to walk. Every day he goes to school to look for his son, Diego, and they make the same way back home but today will be different. Diego, already a teenager, and Santiago, who still sees a child in his son, will have a discussion full of truths that will hurt and silence that father-to-son behavior.

Best Cinematography

Cinematographer Ricard Canyellas won the Best Cinematography award of the 2022 Festival de Cine de l’Alfàs del Pi for the short drama “Tornar a casa” directed by Ariadna Pastor.

Directed by Ariadna Pastor, “Tornar a casa” tells the story of Nit, who moves in with her mother and little sister in her great-grandparents’ coastal house after her parents’ separation. Her mother urges her to unpack but Nit doesn’t want to. She doesn’t understand what’s going on. They already have a house, and it is ugly and dirty. Nit wants to go home. Given the lack of communication from her mother, overwhelmed by the facts and unable to explain to her daughter what is happening, Nit begins to rebel against her new life. During the hot days of that July of 1998, Nit will have to deal with the inexplicable absence of her father and the new reality that is imposed on her: now they live there; now they are a family of three.

Best Director

The Best Director award of the 34th Festival de Cine de l’Alfàs del Pi went to Josema Roig for the short drama “Safe”.

Best Screenplay

The Best Screenplay award of the 2022 Festival de Cine de l’Alfàs del Pi went to Writer/Director Albert Carbó for “Elsa”.

Directed by Albert Carbó, “Elsa” tells the story of the 6-year-old Elsa, a girl who wants to live happily and free. She knows that she is different from most, but despite her young age, she is clear: she knows that she is a girl and that she is the queen of her life. Who could question it? Elsa talks about tolerance, diversity and the possibility of choosing who we want to be.

Best Short Film directed by Women

“On your behalf” directed by Ana García Rico won the Best Short Film Directed by Women award of the festival, sponsored by “CIMA and Huellas Borradas de Mujeres”.

Valencian Short Films Competition

The jury in the Valencian Short Films competition section of the 34th Festival de Cine de l’Alfàs del Pi, consisting of Augusto Fco. González Braña, Cristina Alcázar and Paloma López, under the supervision of Jorge Orozco (member of the Organization), has agreed by majority to honor the short film “Outside is free” directed by Antoni Sendra as the Best Valencial Short Film after watching 8 short film in the Valencian Short Films competition section of the festival.

Directed by Antoni Sendra, “Outside is free” tells the story of a cyclist suffering an accident while training. Badly injured and unable to move, he is trapped in the mountain. The appearance of a dog will mark his survival.
