“DEED NEWS asks” series debuts

“DEED NEWS asks” is an interview series by DEED NEWS, a popular film industry online publication. The series is created by Editor-in-Chief Navid Nikkhah Azad, and it features exclusive interviews with well-known film figures.

In the premiere episode of “DEED NEWS asks,” director Alejandro Loayza Grisi talks about his film UTAMA, which won the Sundance Grand Jury Prize and is representing Bolivia at the 95th Academy Awards.

The debut feature by Alejandro Loayza Grisi, UTAMA, premiered in January 2022 at the Sundance Film Festival and went on to win the Grand Jury Prize in the World Dramatic Competition. The Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner has won awards at Málaga Film Festival, Transilvania International Film Festival and Guadalajara International Film Festival, among others.

UTAMA is Bolivia’s submission for Best International Feature Film at the 95th Academy Awards. Oscar nominations for 2023 will be announced on January 24.

The acclaimed movie by Alejandro Loayza Grisi has been nominated for a Goya in the Best Ibero-American Film category. The Goya Awards are Spain’s main national annual film awards, commonly referred to as the Academy Awards of Spain.

On December 12, “DEED NEWS asks” will premiere with an exclusive interview with Alejandro Loayza Grisi on the Bolivia’s 2023 OSCARS entry, UTAMA.
