Deed Film Festival announces 2022 lineup

Deed Film Festival, organized by Deed News, has announced the full lineup for 2022 festival. Award Winners will be announced on September 15th.

Began in 2022, Deed Film Festival (DFF) is a film festival dedicated to short films. The festival is organized by Deed News – a news media organization, which breaks film festival news.

The 1st edition of the Deed Film Festival is organized in a non-screening format. Short films from 7 counties (United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Sweden, Poland, Germany and China) have submitted works for the 2022 festival.

8 short films (Fiction, Documentary, Animation) from Sweden, United States, Poland, Germany and Spain have been short-listed for the 2022 edition of the Deed Film Festival (DFF).

“You Promise?” (“Lovar du?”) (Sweden), Directed by Lin Laurin

“You Promise” by Lin Laurin

Directed by Lin Laurin,  “You Promise?” (“Lovar du?”) follows Vida, 5, and her brother Alex, 3, when they get a new father figure in the family.

Premiered at the 25th Rabat International Author Film Festival (FICAR) in Morocco, “You Promise?” (“Lovar du?”) has been screened at the BAFTA-accredited Aesthetica Short Film Festival (ASFF) (UK), the BIFA-accredited Manchester Film Festival (UK), the FIFA (Festival International du Film à Aubagne) in France and the IFEMA (International Female Film Festival Malmö) in Sweden.

“Cabarrus” by Andrew Huggins

Directed by Andrew Huggins, “Cabarrus” offers a glimpse in to the life of a struggling family in North Carolina.

Andrew Huggins’ statement for “Cabarrus” reads, “The heroin epidemic has taken millions of lives from us. This film was created from a place of tragedy, particularly with Southern America in mind.”

“UKWATI”, Directed by Sean William Economou

“UKWATI” by Sean William Economou

Directed by Sean William Economou, “UKWATI”, which translates to “The Wedding”, sheds light on the lengths to which a mother must go when living in extreme poverty.

Sean William Economou‘s statement for “UKWATI” reads, “After traveling to Malawi and meeting the young girls who had been freed from these marriages, I couldn’t unhear the stories and tragedies these girls experienced. Their stories greatly impacted my life and I knew I couldn’t let their stories stay quiet.”

“FORTRESS” (Poland), Directed by ZALESKY’S Slawek Zalewski

“FORTRESS” by ZALESKY’S Slawek Zalewski

Directed by ZALESKY’S Slawek Zalewski, the story of “FORTRESS” is set somewhere in the East under communist rule. The authoritarian authorities declare a state of siege, manipulating the inhabitants to find an enemy.

“FORTRESS” has been screened at the Academy Award® qualifying World Festival of Animated Film Zagreb, popularly known as Animafest Zagreb in Croatia.

“Text me when you get home xx” (Germany), Directed by Niklas Bauer

“Text me when you get home xx” by Niklas Bauer

Directed by Niklas Bauer, “Text me when you get home xx” tells the story of a woman, who enters a stranger’s car at night, casually and voluntarily. But soon she begins to sense the dangerous situation she might be in.

“Text me when you get home xx” has been screened at the Bundesfestival Junger Film (Germany, 2022), the Werkstatt Junge Filmszene (Germany, 2022), the Cineglobe International Filmfestival Cern (Switzerland, 2022), the Braunschweig Internationales Film Fest (BIFF) (Germany, 2022), the Brest European Short Film Festival (France, 2022) and the Internationales Open-Air Filmfest Weiterstadt (Germany, 2022).

“Dajla. Cinema and Oblivion” (“Dajla. Cine y Olvido”) by Arturo Dueñas Herrero

Directed by Arturo Dueñas Herrero, “Dajla: Cinema and Oblivion” (“Dajla. Cine y Olvido”) portrays the routine life in Dakhla – one of the Sahrawi refugee camps in southern Algeria. The celebration of Sahara International Film Festival, also known as FiSahara, breaks the monotony. The event ends, life (and oblivion) continues.

“Dajla: Cinema and Oblivion” (“Dajla. Cine y Olvido”) has been nominated for the Best Documentary Short Film (Mejor Cortometraje Documental) in the 2022 Goya Awards.

“Anagnorisis” (Spain), Directed by Arturo Dueñas Herrero

“Anagnorisis” by Arturo Dueñas Herrero

Directed by Arturo Dueñas Herrero, “Anagnorisis” tells the story of a new doctor, who has just arrived at a nursing home. He meets a patient tormented by a past which he cannot remember. This doctor will help him remember his forgotten memories without anticipating the consequences.

“Anagnorisis” has won the Best Short Film Castilla y León Award at the 2018 edition of the Goya Awards qualifying Medina del Campo Film Festival (Semana de Cine de Medina del Campo).
