Kortfilmfestivalen, or The Norwegian Short Film Festival, has announced the complete list of award winners for the 2022 festival, which took place from June 8-12.
Kortfilmfestivalen, also known as The Norwegian Short Film Festival, is a short film festival with a competition program for Norwegian and international short film, short documentaries and Norwegian music videos.
Kortfilmfestivalen is an Academy Award qualifying festival in the Norwegian Short Film, Short Documentary, International Short Film competition sections. The films receiving The Golden Chair Award—the highest ranking Grand Jury Award of the Kortfilmfestivalen—in these categories, will be eligible for the Oscars consideration. The winning films will also be shortlisted for the Norwegian Film Award—Amanda Award (Amandaprisen).
“Walaac” by Carl Georg Rødsten won the Golden Chair for Best Norwegian Short Film of the 2022 Kortfilmfestivalen.
“Walaac” is a psychological horror that follows Yousef who just got a studio apartment in an old house. He gets a framed photograph delivered at his door when strange things start to happen.
“Baby Boom” by Thomas Lunde won an Honorable Mention in the Best Norwegian Short Film competition section of the festival.
“More woman, more cry” by Anne Haugsgjerd won The Terje Vigen Award of the 45th The Norwegian Short Film Festival.
In “More woman, more cry”, Anne A. Haugsgjerd (born in 1944), a renowned Norwegian director, reflects in a poetic, provocative and emotional way about entering the final chapter of her life. More woman, more cry is a naked story about aging, gravity and smoking weed.
In addition to the winners of the Golden Chair and the Terje Vigen award, the jury has also decided that “Observation” (“Observasjon”) by Christoffer Lossius will also be shortlisted for an Amanda nomination.
“Observation” (“Observasjon”) by Christoffer Lossius is a short film about how the kindergarten’s perception and ideology can affect the relationship between parents and children.
The Golden Chair award for Best Norwegian Short Film and the Terje Vigen Award were juried by Marie Therese Guirgis, Brwa Vahabpour, Jukka-Pekka Laakso, Alexandra Kordas and Marte Germaine Christensen.
“Light Years” (“Lata swietlne”) by Monika Proba won The Golden Chair for Best Short Documentary of the 2022 Kortfilmfestivalen.
“Light Years” (“Lata swietlne”) tells the story of Vitali, who has been dreaming of becoming a priest since childhood. He is still one step away from that – according to the rules of the Orthodox Church, he must find a wife.
“Love, Dad” by Diana Cam Van Nguyen won an Honorable Mention in the Best Short Documentary competition section of the festival.
“Love, Dad” tells the story of Diana who finds letters her dad, which he wrote her fifteen years ago when he was in prison. Diana reflects on what happened in the past and writes her father a letter. The short documentary consists of beautiful collages with images, drawings and pieces of paper that retrace the time of her life when her dad was still present.
The Golden Chair for Best Short Documentary was juried by Ash Hoyle, Odveig Klyve, Christine Kecher, Corinne van Egeraat, Jonas Brenna.
“Tank Fairy” by Erich Rettstadt won The Golden Chair for Best International Short Film of the 45th Kortfilmfestivalen, or The Norwegian Short Film Festival 2022 .
In “Tank Fairy”, once upon a time, the magical Tank Fairy delivered tanks of gas (with plenty of sass) to the home of young Jojo, a lonely dreamer in need of a glittery godmother.
The Golden Chair for Best International Short Film was juried by Mona Johanne Hoel, Truls Krane Meby, Michael Fukushima, Jean-Christophe Lamontagne and Marina D. Richter.
“Kjære Gud” by Ivar Aase won The Golden Chair for Best Music Video of the 2022 The Norwegian Short Film Festival.
The honorable mention in the Best Music Video competition section of the 2022 Kortfilmfestivalen went to Felix Campagne Andersen for the music video “Jeg Lot Hun Dra”.
Linda Bournane Engelberth, Sarah Christin Calvert, Siri Schippers Skaar were the members of jury in the Best Music Video competition section of the festival.
“Shark” by Nash Edgerton won the Youth Award of the 45th The Norwegian Short Film Festival.
In “Shark”, his first girlfriend was hit by a car. His second girlfriend fell off a cliff. His wife has come prepared.
“Six Feet of Separation” by Toni Nordli won The Spark Award the 45th The Norwegian Short Film Festival.
“Six Feet of Separation” tells the story of Dina and Noah, who can’t see each other anymore. How long is the separation going to last and will their relationship survive it?
The Spark Award was juried by Tore Tomter, Terje Dale, Elisa Fernanda Pirir.

“Bear Hug” by Gilles Coirier, Marion Le Guillou, David Thomasse og Souad Wedell won the The Norwegian Film Workers’ Association’s Technical Award of the 2022 The Norwegian Short Film Festival.
“Bear Hug” tells the story of a little bear who impatiently awaits the arrival of guests for his birthday. The day passes but no one comes… His determination to celebrate his birthday is strong and, free as a bird, he goes in search of company…
The jury, consisting of Adrian Dalen, Jakob Rørvik, Malin Hannesdatter Sunde awarded 2 short films with honorable mentions:
“Regissøren” by Ingrid Liavaag & Linda Gathu won The Norwegian Film Critics’ Award of the 2022 Kortfilmfestivalen (The Norwegian Short Film Festival).
“Regissøren” tells the story of a newly graduated female director wants to put on an afro-futuristic performance with her theater group at the National Theater. She has been invited to pitch her project to the theater director, but the meeting does not go as planned. She quickly understands that the artistic director is more interested in what she represents than what she has to say.
The honorable mention of The Norwegian Film Critics’ Award went to “Bear Hug” by Gilles Coirier, Marion Le Guillou, David Thomasse og Souad Wedell.
The Norwegian Film Critics’ Award was juried by Aleksander Huser, Ida Madsen Hestman and Ida Cathrine Holme Nielsen.
