BronzeLens Film Festival (BLFF), an Academy Award® qualifying festival for short film categories, has announced the list of nominees for 2022 festival, which is slated to take place in Atlanta (Georgia, United States) from August 23-28.
The mission of the BronzeLens Film Festival of Atlanta, Georgia is to promote Atlanta as the new film mecca for people of color and to showcase films and provide networking opportunities that will develop the next generation of filmmakers.
“Each year our official film selections are determined from a pool of submissions from various parts of the world, and every year I am in awe of the brilliant work produced by such a diverse mix of creatives,” said Deidre McDonald, BronzeLens Artistic Director. “The BronzeLens team is poised and ready to present films that represent the hopes, dreams, and experiences of filmmakers of color.”
Of the 124 official film selections,19 are Georgia productions and many films have an Afrofuturist or Horror theme. Selected films in the Features, Shorts, Documentary, Short Documentary, Dance Video, Web Series, Music Video, Student, and Reel South Short Documentary categories include the work of filmmakers representing the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Jamaica, Cuba, Nigeria, and India. BronzeLens is a designated Oscar Qualifying Festival in the Shorts category and 57 Shorts are among the official film screenings.

7 student films have received nominations for the best award in the Student competition section of the 2022 BronzeLens Film Festival, or the 13th BLFF.
5 Music Videos have received nominations for the best award in the Music Video competition section of the 2022 BronzeLens Film Festival, or the 13th BLFF.
3 Dance Videos have received nominations for the best award in the Dance Video competition section of the 2022 BronzeLens Film Festival, or the 13th BLFF.
6 documentaries have received nominations for the best award in the Documentary competition section of the 2022 BronzeLens Film Festival, or the 13th BLFF.
6 short documentaries have received nominations for the best award in the Short Documentary competition section of the 2022 BronzeLens Film Festival, or the 13th BLFF.
3 web series have received nominations for the best award in the Web Series competition section of the 2022 BronzeLens Film Festival, or the 13th BLFF.
8 short films have received nominations for the best award in the Short competition section of the 2022 BronzeLens Film Festival, or the 13th BLFF.
2 feature movies have received nominations for the best award in the Feature competition section of the 2022 BronzeLens Film Festival, or the 13th BLFF.
The BronzeLens Film Festival (BLFF) is an Academy Award® qualifying festival for the short film categories. Winner of Best Short award will be eligible for consideration in the short film categories of the Academy Awards® without the standard theatrical run, provided the film otherwise complies with the Academy Rules.
