Drama International Short Film Festival is accredited by European Film Academy as a European Film Award qualifying festival.

About

Drama International Short Film Festival (DISFF), one of the world’s oldest short film festivals, is Greece’s leading short film festival. DISFF is the annual meeting place for filmmakers and industry professionals. Based in Drama, Greece, the festival runs a six-day schedule in September and its main venues are Municipal Conservatory and Olympia Cinema.

Drama Short Film Festival was first held in 1978 on the initiative of the Drama Film Club. The response of filmmaker, as well as the public was enthusiastic from the very beginning. A few years later, the Festival was adopted by the Municipality of Drama and then, in the mid-eighties, by the Greek State. In 1995, the Festival became International.

The Festival was established in 1978 and it has been a Municipal Enterprise since 1996.

Main Objectives

  • To promote and disseminate the art of cinema, and especially of the short film, in Greece and abroad.
  • To develop a spirit of friendship and cooperation between filmmakers from all over the world.
  • To promote screenings of Greek and foreign short films and to organize film tributes, seminars, conferences, lectures, art exhibitions, musical concerts and theatrical performances throughout the year in the city of Drama, Greece and abroad.
  • To collaborate with similar institutions both in Greece and abroad towards the fostering and development of short film.

Drama International Short Film Festival (DISFF) is the leading Greek and South-Eastern European gateway to the world’s most prestigious short film awards, and nominated filmmakers qualify for the European Film Awards.
