Doc Edge Festival is an Academy Award® qualifying festival for feature and short documentaries.

About

Doc Edge, formerly DOCNZ International Documentary Film Festival or simply DOCNZ Film Festival, and then Documentary Edge Festival, is New Zealand’s Academy Award-qualifying international documentary film festival, run annually by the Documentary New Zealand Trust since 2005.

Doc Edge Festival is the home for storytelling that changes your world and its mission is to celebrate, support and showcase documentary. The festival showcases the best films from New Zealand and around the world and is committed to selecting the highest quality films that show excellence in storytelling, celebrate diversity and inspire social change. It’s one of the leading film festivals within the Pacific and is keen to support filmmakers with Pacific content and subjects.

Doc Edge Festival is an Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences qualifying event for short-form / long-form documentaries. Winners of the the Best New Zealand Short Documentary,  Best New Zealand Feature Documentary, Best International Short Documentary and Best International Feature Documentary will be eligible for consideration in the documentary short film and documentary feature film categories of the Academy Awards® without the standard theatrical run, provided the films otherwise complies with the Academy Rules.
